Finnish metal outfit NORTHER did not have to search long for a competent replacement for ex-vocalist Petri Lindroos, who had left the band recently due to his commitments to Ensiferum. NORTHER states:
'After a hard search for a new vocalist we are honoured to announce Aleksi Sihvonen as our new lead singer. He is a creative and diverse vocalist with loads of experience. He will surely add new input to the band with his talent and variable singing styles, and most importantly: his personality fits to the band perfectly.

Sepultura e Angra fazem turnê juntos pela primeira vez no Brasil e América Latina

As duas maiores bandas brasileiras de metal, Sepultura e Angra, saem juntas pela primeira vez para uma grande turnê, que irá abranger todo o território nacional e América Latina. A tour, composta por mais de 20 cidades, e que inclui apresentações nas maiores casas de show do país, como Via Funchal em São Paulo e Canecão no Rio de Janeiro, ocorre durante os meses de maio, agosto e setembro.

O Sepultura dá início à turnê brasileira do recém-lançado CD A-Lex, após realizar uma turnê européia por mais de 20 países em fevereiro e março. A banda já tem a agenda lotada em 2009, com shows na Europa, Estados Unidos e Ásia. O disco, que acabou de ser lançado mundialmente e no Brasil pela gravadora Atração em janeiro tem sido muito elogiado pela imprensa especializada nacional e internacional.

O Angra, após um hiato de cerca de dois anos, volta para mostrar que continua com força total. A banda prepara um grande retorno, com um repertório que abrange os maiores sucessos do grupo e algumas surpresas.

Os thrash metallers do Sepultura, Derrick Green (vocal), Andreas Kisser (guitarra), Paulo Xisto (baixo) e Jean Dolabella (bateria) dividem o palco com Edu Falaschi (vocais), Kiko Loureiro (guitarra), Rafael Bittencourt (guitarra) e Felipe Andreoli (baixo). STATEMENT FROM GAAHL ON EUROPEAN TOUR AND REASONS FOR NOT CONTINUING TO WORK WITH INFERNUS

I have registered some concern from friends and fans about the upcoming European tour in November because of the last day's happenings. I can guarantee that the tour will go on as scheduled.

Gorgoroth has not split up but continued on in a different form. We will do this tour in honor of our working partners, booking agency, promoters and the audience who already bought tickets to the concerts. The alternative would be cancellation, which under no circumstance would I allow at this point in time.

Originally I had the intension of leaving Infernus with some sort of integrity. The way this case has developed I have no other choice but to reveal some of the reasons why I can no longer work with him.

First and foremost, it's the disrespect he has shown our working partners; record labels, session-musicians, promoters (by sending unserious demands in raiders etc.) and producers we have worked with over the years which has lead to this decision.

In addition, he has not been a creative force for the last 8 years. He has shown no interest in the art defining Gorgoroth during that same period of time. He has not shown up for rehearsals and has broken agreements on several occasions. This is also an important reason in explaining why he is not part of Gorgoroth at the time being. He has broken the codex of honor and is not living by his own rules, the rules he set for himself and his surroundings on all levels.

I have tried for several years my best to continue in the original form in hopes for a change and I have done so in honor of his previous work in Gorgoroth and the fact that he is the founding member. I..ve hoped that he would become the artist he once was several years ago and I've realized that it will never happen. It's gotten to a point were King and I can't create a fire as long as someone is there pouring water over it.

I..m not personally involved in the formal part of this, but we have prepared for any given result of this matter. I know our partners have worked on our behalf preparing for what we knew would happen, for example, preparing the legal name copyright and other formal tasks. I'll let the lawyers on both sides argue as much as they want. What is the truth is the truth --- and whoever claims otherwise is a false prophet and will be treated accordingly.

We have reached the conclusion to continue Gorgoroth as a duo because the alternative would be no Gorgoroth at all at this time. King and I have given Gorgoroth content for the last 8 years and will bring our art with us into the future. We are already on our way to start a new and improved area of our work. You will, in the following weeks, be presented our agenda to continue to spread true Norwegian black metal through recordings and concerts. We will, with or without the name Gorgoroth, raise the flame higher and brighter than ever.

The past defines the future, but sometimes you must leave something behind to be able to grow.

Sonic Devastation - The Proliferation

The project began in 2003 and endured despite several lineup changes as well as changes in musical direction. A full length CD entitled “The Proliferation” was recorded over the spring of 2007 and released in June of 2007. We are pleased with the culmination from all of our diligent work on the project and look forward to what the future holds as we progress.

The current members draw inspiration from many genres, but the musical focus has been a fusion of death, black, thrash, and traditional metal stylings. New songs are written as time has allowed and many shows have been played, including an appearance at Salt Lake City’s Hard Rock Cafe, local headlining shows, and supporting slots for national touring bands Martriden and Psychostick. We've played to receptive audiences since the Summer of 2006 and we thank everyone who has attended the shows in support!

In 2008 five crushing new demo tracks came to fruition. Currently that work is being elaborated upon by several additional tracks leading up to our 2nd studio effort in 2009!

Album layout and art was done pro bono by 3 danish college students in
collaboration with their final exam project.

Biografía:

Piedras y Palos debuta en 1991 con la idea de luchar por el metal formoseño, Oriundos de Formosa Capital (Argentina), dentro del género rock realizadores de heavy metal. Hasta la actualidad han lanzado 2 demos y 3 discos, haciendo una gira extensa de su última placa discográfica llamada Celta Violenta llevándolos de esta manera a ser partícipes de recitales con bandas de gran renombre como Attaque 77, Almafuerte, Catupecu Machu, A.N.I.M.A.L y O'Connor entre tantas otras. su gira se extendió hasta la República del Paraguay donde realizaron recitales junto a Corrosion, Funeral, 200 Muertos, Imperium, Malebolo y muchas otras más durante toda su extensa trayectoria musical. También han tocado con muchisimas bandas locales, apoyando así también la cultura del metal en su ciudad natal, colaborando con eventos realizados en Formosa.
El nombre de Piedras & Palos se debe a un enunciado extraído de la teoría de Einstein, la cual dice: Yo no se con que armas se peleará en la tercera guerra mundial, pero si en la cuarta y sera con piedras y palos.
Piedras & Palos son: Johnny Jackson en Voz y bajo, Alejandro Talavera en guitarra y Horacio Fernández (ex Tacú) en batería.

Dystera - Journey into the Shades CD Out 24.03.2009

El 24/03/2009 sale a la venta el primer lp de la banda Symphonic Power Metal "Dystera" apoyenlos comprando su disco

Biography:

Dystera was founded in the year 2006 by Dominik Geneto. The music direction was to be symphonic power metal with an emphasis of melodic and harmonic elements in which a female voice in combination with a flute played an important role. With this goal in his mind, Dominik started to find the appropriate musicians to form Dystera. After a while, Daniel Bosshard joined the band. The two began to compose new songs and tried to integrate Daniel’s flute tunes into existed songs. Simon Infanger got interested in the band when he saw an ad. He told the band that he was impressed by their music, and became the third member. With a keyboarder in its ranks the band came closer to the sound they were trying to achieve. The interaction of these two melodic instruments created a middle age atmosphere. The basic structure for new and more complex songs was created. After a long time search, Dystera finally found a drummer. Martin Roth was the perfect man for the job his drums gave the songs a backbone. The new Drummer suggested Melanie Schweizer as a singer for the band. She obtained a CD and the lyrics. She was really enthused and decided to perform the vocals. Her strong voice impressed all in the band. The band had the intention to publish a song on the new edition of the Heavy Metal Nation. Dystera recorded in May 2007 their first song at Mindstorm Production’s studio. At this point, Dystera would like to thank Michael Herkenrath for recording the bass guitar. Although the band was still searching for two musicians. This problem got solved when Nino Plozza answered to their ad. He immediately took over the part of the bassist. After a while, he brought Adrian Spycher as second guitarist to the band.
